Hello, we are safe in London and staying with Ellie and Niel and Ema-Joy. Just thought we'd post some of our pics from Singapore while we had the chance.

The long flight left us knackered so yesterday we watched a movie and got through a lovely dinner before crashing. Today Emmett is still not feeling too well so EJ and I hit the local op shops and generally gossiped and caught up. We will do some exciting London stuff soon we promise and when we do we'll post some pictures.

Hi guys, sorry if I told you we would have pics up, turned out to be not so possible.



Anyway hello from Singapore airport we have a few hours before our flight so are just hanging out.



Wow we found this great place called Mustafas department store. It's a bargain hunters dream - think the warehouse but 6 stores high over 2 buildings. I wanted shoes (of course) but in the end there were so many to choose from that I didn't buy any. Mustafas is in Little India. Little India is well full of Indian people and very busy and loud. It's not as English speaking as the main area of Singapore and so is a bit more intimidating. Also alot more street vendors that try and get your attention, one pointed out my green stone "hah, New Zealand my store is upstairs" They act genuinely offended when you say no as well.

Oh Emmett has new glasses and is a bit flash really. The salesman went on about how he would start a new year and have good business prosperity from buying them so here's hopeing!

OK that's all I can think of, we miss you all (oh except you, you know who you are) so stay safe.

Hot in the City

Hello All,

"Hot" is the word but we are still having fun.

We woke up early yesterday (Sunday) and headed for the river. We had a 45 minute boat tour on the river complete with a bizarre taped commentary in an American accent.

We found out that not a lot opens before 11am here so hung around in the heat on the rivers edge waiting for the air conned malls to open. We watched a fun run looping down one side of the river and back down the other. So we decided not to embarrass the locals with our speed and prowess in the extreme heat and instead watched them from a shady park bench.

We have found the best food joint in the world ( well many of them in fact). They are called Kopitiam - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kopi_tiam .

They are food courts but not as you know it. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner in three different Kopitiams yesterday and had completely different food each time. We are yet to sample any from the stall labelled "Pig Organ Soup" but have tried a few new things. Runny egg, toast and strong sweet coffee ( or "kopi") is currently my favourite breakfast and it costs $2 all up!

We also went to Orchard Road which is simply shopping mall after mall after mall.

Today ( Monday- Can't get Blog off USA time?) we have been down to the Bugis District and are know back at the Hostel doing our washing.

Singapore

We're in Singapore and it is hot, walking outside is like getting blown by a giant hair dryer. We look like such tourists, Emmett even has his Tui t-shirt on. Long flights suck but with lots of practice sleeping in the Geoghegan's lounge I was well prepared and actually slept quite a bit. We haven't done anything yet but thought we'd post something just so you all know we're here and happy.
Singapore has co-ordinated so all it's shops are having one big sale, and it's on now so wish us and our credit cards luck.
